Description

We have three Liquidambar trees on our street near the intersection of Knowland Avenue that have multiple limbs hanging over the street and sidewalk which represent a serious hazard. This species is known to drop limbs, and that’s what these trees are doing. One branch fell about 5 years ago during a storm and damaged our house and my wife complained to the city at that time; She was told that we would be placed on the list for the tree to be removed and that the wait time is several years.
Another branch fell very recently (October 29, see picture) and damaged our neighbor’s fence. The fence in the picture is 6 1/2 feet tall and that branch is almost a foot across at the base. There are several branches that could fall that are much larger than the ones that have already fallen. These huge horizontal branches are a result of pruning practices by PG&E.
Many residents of this block are extremely concerned that someone could be injured or even killed. We need the city Council to prioritize immediate removal of these trees.
