It is current City policy to limit the installation of stop signs along arterial roadways. However, a preliminary traffic assessment was conducted which included a review of the intersection’s crash history. Based on JCPD crash reports, this intersection meets the threshold to warrant a more in-depth study. We will collect traffic volume data at this intersection in order to conduct a signal warrant analysis. Please allow 4 to 6 months for this work to be completed.

This is desperately needed in this area.

I am not sure if there are any updates, but a lot is being done in this area. This includes clearing the sight line for vehicles entering Baldwin from side streets and additional lighting.

It looks like the original request of an All-Way stop sign met the criteria for a stop sign and then no updates. This would have taken legislation. Let me find out what has happened/needs to happen.

Pedestrian Safety Study Request
Baldwin Ave & Washburn St

*Along High Injury Network
*Main thorough fare
*Two blocks from school (HS)
*One block from future school (MS & HS)
*One block from State highway

Issues:
1) Pedestrian safety crossing both streets due to aggressive driving
2) Driver safety due to the sightline on the west side of Baldwin
3) Failure of cars to stop for pedestrians
4) Drivers pulling into (not parking) the crosswalk, blocking a clear path for pedestrians
5) Speeding along Baldwin, especially btwn the intersection and Rt 139
6) Dark
7) The driveways from two high density buildings (345 & 348 Baldwin) empty across from each other, on Baldwin just north of the intersection

Requests:

1) Traffic signal
2) Delineators at the northwest side of the intersection
3) Crossing guards (must request through Public Safety – Samantha at the RRC forwarded this request back on 9/14/23)
4) More lighting
5) RRFB (Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons)
6) All way stop
