I strongly support removing the remaining tracks at this location. The tracks are no longer needed, as the railroad right of way has been sold to the City of Cambridge both north and south of Concord Avenue. In addition, the bike lane crossing the tracks at an angle creates an extremely dangerous hazard to riders, particularly in wet weather. To be honest, this entire section of path needs to be revamped. Besides removing the old tracks, the City should also remove the associated curb cuts which encourage pedestrians to cross Concord Avenue in the wrong place, the speed strips that are difficult for young riders to navigate, and the confusing pavement marks that imply both "stop" and "train crossing", when in fact neither is the case. Please make a plan to fix both the dangerous track and these other associated issues.

Actually, the area where the old tracks cross the bike path are on City land. Please ask the Water Department to address this area.

As Concord Ave at this location is a state road, this was sent to DCR, DOT, and the Supt. of Streets for the City of Cambridge to make them aware of the request and see what could be done to coordinate a response.

DCR has not answered multiple attempts to follow up on this issue over the past two years. More urgent follow-up is needed on the part of the City of Cambridge to resolve this dangerous problem.
