Thank you for contacting Pinellas County Animal Services about stray nuisance cats in your area. Due to the fact that humane traps must be closely monitored for activity, animal services is unable to set and properly monitor them. However, citizens may obtain a humane trap from a local hardware store for around $25.00 and trap the cats that are coming onto their private property. We ask citizens to set the trap at dusk and check it first thing in the morning. If a stray cat is caught, citizens may contact us as early as 7:00am to schedule a pick up. Citizens do not have to be home when we pick up. A note can be left on the front door giving us permission to remove the cat. Animal Services uses their own transfer cages and will leave the trap with the property owner. If further questions please call us at (727) 582-2600. We are striving to improve our services. If there are other welfare concerns for the cats please call into our enforcement office so we can obtain more information and dispatch an Animal Control Officer to investigate. Thank You!
PLEASE NOTE: At this time due to the corona virus we are only dispatching Animal Control Officers for emergencies only. We are not currently picking up or taking in cats into the shelter so please DO NOT begin trapping until we are back to full services. Thank you for your understanding.
