Did anyone think to call PD and at least let them determine if it is a theft?

Yes, Tuesday night.

I called NHPD Tuesday night. The dispatcher said the car was licensed to an address on Eld and that they would send a car when they could. I spoken to the officers a few hours later. I;' unsure if they filed a report or contacted the car owner.

NHPD, please, can you tell us if a report was filed by the responding officers, and if the owners have been notified?

People, invest $20 in lug nut locks to prevent your wheels from being stolen. They're super easy to put on yourself.

Friday 10:40 am called Police non-emergency number to report the car is still there. Dispatcher said it was a hazard and would send someone to take care of it.

NHPD is aware of this issue and is working with the vehicle owner to help resolve the problem of replacing the wheels rather than moving the vehicle in its current condition.

It's in the news as well (http://www.wtnh.com/news/new-haven-cty/wheels-swiped-off-cars-in-new-haven-neighborhood); multiple cars have had all their wheels stolen and the owners are working to get things resolved. Fortunately they can at least have their tickets erased, since they were a victim of a crime. It would be nice if people knew / reached out to their neighbors (leave a note on the car, maybe?) rather than just calling the police and getting them ticketed :(

FYI owner was notified of the theft by NHPD Tuesday evening, and the insurance company told the owner not to move the car until they could assess. Insurance adjuster came today. Thank you to all who helped get this resolved.
