Description
someone broke into the house stealing a lot of expensive yard equipment and sentimental items belonging to a deceased family member. The extent of NHPD' s investigation was to make phone calls and when they got no answer said there's nothing else they can do, even after multiple hits on a stolen laptop. This could be your home. do you really have to be white and live in Westville for the police to do more to uphold the law, protect and serve, find and persecute OBVIOUS criminals than make a couple of random phone calls then give up because "no one answered the phone"! is THIS really what our tax dollars are paying for! uninterested uncaring ineffective policing! why not just announce open season and The purge if the police don't care.

I feel you're absolutely correct. My family and I also supplied clear evidence of who the culprit was and contacted them after there were 2 hits on the location of a stolen laptop and they still came up with excuses to do nothing. They don't care about crime when it involves poor black citizens that don't meet their warped sense of who is entitled to justice. This is also true in regard to other city programs as well. They purposely make it hard to certain people who need the most help to qualify for certain city programs while people who clearly don't need the help or need less help get it easily. If you aren't rich, white and living in certain parts of the city or employed at particular well established (not for profit) businesses or well connected you're ridiculed and ignored. Whenever a program can deny you assistance by claiming that section 8 rent doesn't qualify as reliable income for a landlord or you need $30,000 in equity in your home to get help from state and city programs it's obvious no one cares about the black, brown and less affluent citizens of New Haven
And for the record I contacted the numbers and people suggested in another post and received emails that served only to clarified they don't intend to do anything more than has already been done regarding the break in and theft of all the lawn equipment and personal property taken beyond speaking to officers about statements that were made. Gee why doesn't that make me feel safer already?!
