Seawall, do you live on Concord? Fix the streets and get speed bumps. Slows everyone down. The ones over by the airport got complaints because the signs did not go up first and people were smashing through them. The cops know about the speeding and nothing is done. Once they are gone the same thing is going to happen. At least if we have speed bumps and/or more traffic signs we can split the abuse of Concord and shift some of the traffic back to Townsend. I would rather deal with the noise of speedbumps and decrease the speed. I already have to put up with the noise and the speeding. Time to divide the traffic up evenly between Concord and Townsend. Speeding will continue once the police go away and they will. Transit needs a slap too. Maybe we can move them back to Townsend where people have more pull and they will slow down.

Seawall, people don't want to damage their cars, and if trucks had to pick between straight Concord with bumps or curvy Townsend with no bumps, they would pick Townsend, which is the street they should be driving on anyways.

On October 23, 2008, The New Haven Board of Aldermen unanimously passed an order creating a nine member Complete Streets Steering Committee to guide the development of the following elements for the purpose of addressing the status of city streets: policy document, design manual, public process, educational campaign and traffic enforcement.

A focal point is to include feedback and ideas for street improvements from members of the community. You will also find previously submitted project requests from other community members. Please submit a “Project Request Form” for this issue through the link above. As a resident, you are not required to design anything. Instead, use the "Complete Streets Manual" as a showcase of the different types of traffic calming measures that may be used.
