Description

We received notice that this past week was supposed to be a week in which the Albany Police Department focused on speeding. Despite all the calls and reports about Madison Avenue being used as a Raceway by cars and motorcycles, not a single police car was seen in the area other than to pick up food. Why are officers avoiding known areas of dangerous speeding, and ignoring of traffic signals, including during a week when that was allegedly the focus? Perhaps there were unmarked cars in the area so please release the number of tickets that were given for speeding and ignoring traffic signals in the Washington Park, Lark Street, and Madison Avenue areas during this so-called speed week. That's public information and we have a right to know. How do we attain the number of speeding tickets issued in the area for the past year?
