Description
The traffic light on the corner of Cambridge and Willow never changes anymore unless one pushes the button to cross. Even then, it takes a while. There used to be a sign saying the light would change on its own. Was this modification intended? Was hoping to avoid touching the button.

Earlier in the year, when less was known about COVID-19 and fewer people were moving throughout the City, we changed these signals so that the pushbuttons were not needed to activate the pedestrian signal. With time, we've gained more information, which indicates that COVID-19 is less likely to spread through surface transmission. Additionally, traffic volumes have increased across the City. Therefore, we have reverted most of these signals to make the signal more efficient for all users. People traveling around Cambridge should continue to wear masks and wash or sanitize their hands multiple times a day.
We have adjusted the signal operation to reduce the delay upon pressing the button.
