When is somebody going to do something about the terrible congestion at the intersection of Tryon Rd & Junction Blvd? You cannot turn out of there at all during regular business hours. It is extremely dangerous with the blind hills & traffic coming from all different directions. I know there will supposedly be a change with the road being moved years later, etc, but how many people must get in wrecks in the meantime? How many times must I detour around this nightmare of an intersection by turning out from Grenelle St? Put a light there!!!!!!

I've referred this to our Public Works Department. When the staff has had a chance to respond I’ll post an update. Thanks for reporting.

Per Public Works: This location has been studied and does not meet the criteria set for NCDOT based on current traffic volumes and accident data for signalization. The Tyron road widening project is in progress but the holdup is the reconstruction of the bridge. NCDOT is currently getting the bridge designed and construction started. Once this is complete the new intersection of Tryon Road and Junction Blvd is scheduled to have a traffic signal. It will be signalized once the new road is punched through to Tryon Road. The City apologizes for your inconvenience and thanks you for your patience.
