Article V Section 5.1 (o) of the City of Malden’s parking regulations prohibits a vehicle from parking upon any way for a period of time exceeding twenty-four (24) consecutive hours if the vehicle is registered to an address outside the city. We will drop a notice on the vehicle informing them of this regulation. If the notice is ignored we will begin issuing $25 fines and if the vehicle remains in the same location after 3 consecutive days we may order the police to issue a tow if the vehicle is determined to be abandoned. This regulation is in place to prevent vehicles being stored on the public street for long periods of time thus preventing access for residents to limited on street parking.

If the vehicle were violating the winter parking regulations then we would ask the Malden Police to issue a tow immediately but because it is on the legal side of the road we will give the owner an opportunity to receive the 24 hour violation and move the vehicle before asking the police to tow.
