the van is not even on the street

I park all the time on the street sometimes for more than 3 days because im disabled and cant make it out. I try to get the disabled spot which is taken sometimes so i have to park in the metered space but nobody better tow me away!!

I guess maybe you missed it, but it’s still parked in the same spot. I’m not sure a quick drive by and closing the case is going to solve it.

Maybe you have to tell them the address...

i am closing this as the van wasn't there. Parking enforcement have to check the whole city for this ordinance. If the van moves every 3 days in a different spot than he or she is doing what is necessary and the van wasn't even on the street during the snow ban which was a relief. The van is registered and usually in a legal spot. It is in the parking enforcements notes to keep an eye out when deemed possible.

Ok. Thanks for keeping an eye on it when possible. It should be obvious that the van is not being moved every 3 days or this would not have been posted. Leaving the parking spot for an hour or two and then parking in that same spot again doesn’t meet the definition of the law, which requires that the vehicle be moved 25 feet for 36 hours before taking the same parking spot again for 3 days. Maybe it’s a dumb rule, not sure what the purpose of this tool is for if not to make it easier for BTV DPW to target scofflaws.

What if you dont have off street parking? It seems like a dumb rule to have to move your car if you dont want to!!

I've seen a city where there's free perimeter parking all along the edge of the town to encourage folks to park and walk/bike/car pool/bus into town coupled with paid/permit parking on every other street inside the perimeter. I've long wondered if something along the lines of this model might be worth considering here in Burlington. Anybody have some thoughts on this idea?
