Morris Cove is the forgotten neighborhood of New Haven...

Please don't be dismayed because Townsend gets resurfaced. We are all part of the Cove. I am going to make calls to insist this road be done. I wonder if Concord is a State road for resurface but the City must make repairs. BTW--- the lovely work on the Seawall has left folks with no curb to protect from the speeders that also zoom down here . That will be another fight. NH puts in lovely curbs in other areas of the city but stopped at Florence Ave.

Concord is not a state road. That's why there is disgust with the bus using it as a high speed route. The infrastructure isn't there and clearly the funding isn't either. I understand that Townsend gets repaved, but Concord's disrepair is a representation of the structural problem in the city for a much longer period of time.

Exactly! Concord is NOT a state road, unlike Connecticut Route 337 (a.k.a. Townsend). The genius that decided to put the buses on a non-serviced side road like Concord deserves a Darwin Award. Everyone knows that Morris Cove is the last on the totem pole of New Haven funding, but that doesn't excuse the blatant neglect of the most used road in the neighborhood. Woodward was beautified with its roundabouts, and Townsend was repaved (curbs or no, you don't have 8 inch deep potholes). This has been an issue in the past, see Waterboarder's posts from last year. Granulated tar isn't going cut it when the workers only put in a shallow shovelful. The plows then scrape that up every winter. Come and fix the holes properly. Stay posted, I'll attach a picture tomorrow of the road debris by my curb and a picture of the potholes with a ruler in it....

We have to start showing up at aldermanic meetings to complain and bombarding City officials with calls . This is the only way. 10 people from the Cove at a meeting means a lot to City folk who count heads. The Cove has been silent, complacent, and independent for too long. We have to start working together to get what we want

And let's not have a cold patch or hot patch alone.. Repair the foundation before you recover or we'll be in the same place next winter. No more quick fixes to shut people up.

Agreed. Concord is not a state road, unlike Townsend which is Connecticut Route 337. I don't know who the genius was to put buses on an interior road and not the state road. Either way, filling the gigantic potholes on Concord with some granular tar is not going to be sufficient. Someone needs to come and either repave or properly patch the road. While between 161 and 169 Concord is a particularly bad patch, the whole road is in bad shape. Fixing the roads is generally considered an appropriate use of tax dollars, New Haven.
