Description
Is it possible for DPW to implement proactive regularly scheduled street sweeping of all bike lanes city wide, instead of the current reactive system where sweeping is done by request when enough debris/glass/etc builds up?
If possible, this would ideally happen the day after recycling pickup on all regular routes. Most (but not all) of the broken glass tends to be from dropped recycling, so from a timing perspective weekly sweeps on whatever day follows recycling pickup would make the most sense.
As a daily commuter, my observation is that enough debris of different kinds builds up weekly to warrant sweeping, and we're not talking about a lot of road miles that would need to be covered.

recently purchased sweeper has arrived and is undergoing final preparations. Crews will then be trained on the new equipment. This will allow us to better sweep the narrow bike lanes, as well as with the additional front mounted broom, we will be able to pull material from around bump outs, and off the tops of curbs. This will also allow more frequent bike lane clearing.
