any updates?? The strong odor of gas was present just driving up the street today. Has anyone checked the abandoned property at the corner of Highland and East Border for gas leaks

Yes, it coming from near the abandoned house but National Grid (when they came out briefly) said it was outside and not in the house. However, I don't understand why there is no sense of urgency here. The smell of gas is strong and in a residential neighborhood no less. National Grid didn't seem to have it on file the second time I called and won't provide any updates. I'm hoping the city of Malden would take some initiative out of a public safety concern.

Since gas company seems to be ignoring the issue ( I called them as well) I notified fire department they are going to check it out!

Reported several weeks ago. Still smells today. Disconcerting.

I have also reported this to NGrid several weeks ago. Today the smell is still there. This is a concerning issue and you would think it would be addressed immediately.

Thanks Jim for notifying the fire department but unfortunately they have been out previously and just called National Grid themselves. How has no one from the Malden City Staff responded to this post yet? No concern at all? Does anyone have a suggestion of who else to call since this forum is receiving no attention?

I called the Mayor's office and asked that they contact the gas company and get an update as to what they are doing! I asked the Mayor's office to place an update here. I was told that the seeclickfix is being replaced so perhaps that it why very little here gets responded to. Not sure why the city does not take the site down if they are not going to pay attention!

Why would they replace this app? It's been very handy and I've had direct responses to two issues I've mentioned in the past.

This odor needs investigation. Health and safety concern.

A representative from National Grid informed Malden city Hall that they will investigate this odor today 7/16/15.
