Here is the specific law.
§ 20-173. Pedestrians' right-of-way at crosswalks.
(a) Where traffic-control signals are not in place or in operation the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way, slowing down or stopping if need be to so yield, to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at or near an intersection, except as otherwise provided in Part 11 of this Article.

Thank you for reaching out. This street is currently being resurfaced. Following the completion of the resurfacing project on Oberlin Rd. we can look into the possibility of adding additional pedestrian signs at the crosswalk.

This is unacceptable. My son walks to school and uses the crosswalks along with many other children! He also is in sports and clubs after school when there is NO crossing guard and now NO crosswalk! Having a crossing guard is the bare minimm but having the visual crossing is just as important.
All of the paving/painting has been done
and still Nothing has been fixed!?!?!
So our kids have to fend for themselves against ever increasing traffic of Oberlin Rd.
I’m very concerned that this hasn’t been prioritized before school starting!
This crossing needs signs, flashing lights and stop signal to make sure that drivers See this and stop before something bad happens.
Having the utmost safety for our kids against oncoming traffic both during and after school should be the most important part of this project.
This needs to be addressed today!

Now that the resurfacing is complete and the new lines are painted, can we please have a "Yield to pedestrians in crosswalk - STATE LAW" sign in the median or along both sides?

A request has been submitted to install the "Yield to Pedestrians in Crosswalk" signage in the median at the crosswalk. The additional request for additional infrastructure is being reviewed.

This needs more than just signs. This is not safe these keep getting run over in one of our kids could be crossing before or after hours. What about the long-term plan? We need something permanent. A stoplight pedestrian crossing would be the best solution here to let kids/families and What about the 1200 new residents and cars entering this intersection? How is anyone going to cross the street safely at all hours of the day and night?

Thank you for following up. For both signal requests and flashing sign requests, the city conducts a review to determine if the infrastructure is appropriate at the requested location. A signal study request was forwarded to the signals team for review. There is also a review underway for the Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) signage requested."
