I have told the East shore top cop where the bikes are kept and he doesnt give a crap. The police in this town dont do traffic duties unless their is an accident.

They know where these kids live, they choose to do nothing. We should all just move out and let Mayor John reap what he has sowed. Speaking of that does anyone suppose Mayor John has dirtbikes doing wheelies up and down his street? I know for sure their is a wheely master in Westville as well.

I absolutely agree. I live in the Heights, where this was a huge a problem. We all just constantly called the police, inundating them w/ calls each and every time, so they finally had to deal w/ it to get us to shut up. I suggest that all neighbors bug the alderperson, the NHPFD main # and the local cops. Why not keep posting pictures and descriptions here, and write to the Mayor? Make it as annoying for them as it has been for us. Hopefully no one will get hurt until then.

I concur with the report. I have heard them on Chatham St for long periods too.

I agreee this a major problembut unfortunately the police dont look at it that way Like any other situation it takes som e innocent person to get injured before they listen or take action

Today saw a group of 6 blow straight through the intersection at Downing and Chatham and then proceed down Downing and up Pine the wrong way. One of them rode down the footpath on the right side at a high speed, there was no way he would be able to stop if a child or car came out in front of them. We called the non emergency Police number and received an ambivalent response.....needless to say we did not say a patrol car. A regular patrol in the area would not only discourage this behaviour but should eventually lead to locating the people concerned. The reason of not being able to pursue them should not be a reason for not investigating calls.

calls to the police are a joke and a half in New Haven and mayor John doesnt care. keep paying your extra high tax and shut up is his way.

Saw a police car chasing a dirt biker on Front Street about 4:15. Fairly high speed too. Saw same dirt bike at Criscuolo Park about 20 minutes later. He had his hands in a big chromed out black Escalade. Called non emergency police and also told officers that were helping someone in Chapel and Blatchley. They too seemed very frustrated by the dirt bike riders!

we need to step up enforcement! please call the NHPD non-emergency number if you see them: 203 946 6316. add it to your contacts. call with as much info as possible. color of bikes, describe riders as best you can, the direction of travel.

I do not expect the dirt bike/ATV issue to be completely solved, but it will be helpful to policing efforts to distinguish new reports from those before this recent operation.
