Re. Coffee Pot Park issue 1970023
This has been an on-going issue now for quite some time. Live nearby and often have to pick up empty liquor bottles dropped in my yard by these guys as they walk back to 4th St. Once had one guy wash his clothes in the bayou and hang them up to dry on the picnic tables. No longer feel safe to bring kids there to play.
Update from the Office of Veteran, Social & Homeless Services: issues related to the homeless in our city may be reported to our office - contact information may be found on this page of the StPete.org website:
We work closely with various City departments and local social service providers to address issues faced by our homeless population, and we also work with neighborhood associations to address the concerns they have, as well. Our Police Department has a Street Outreach Team that actively canvasses areas where the activities of the homeless are noticed, and they will continue doing so to ensure the safety of all citizens. Please immediately report any criminal activity or safety concerns to the SPPD directly by calling 727-893-7780 if not an emergency, or 911 if an emergency. Thank you.
It might help if that park was lit up better that's a very dark dark area at night lights or no lights- it's still dark and could use some more.. Just walking the trail at 6:30 after work can be a little scary
They have moved from downtown to other park areas. They are also in Crisp Park. They like it there, as there are restrooms, water fountains, and 2 new shelters. It is tucked away, and the police presence has not been what it used to be at the park, unfortunately. It is scaring away families and mommy and me play groups, and young kids that go to the park. It is a dangerous situation that needs to be followed more closely.
I walk by this area every morning on the north bay trail. I have see people sleeping inside the children play area and at the benches inside the shelter at this location. I would also like to do something about his traffic on ! street between 38th Ave N and 30th Ave N . Cars are speeding north and south along this stretch of road especially in the early morning hours. I talked with the police who patrol this area and they say that they can do nothing. There is a school crossing in this area and I have see an unmarked patrol car at times. There is new school crossing lights up now ant this helps, but cars are going 40 mph and 50 mph is a posted 25 mph zone.
Please do something to fix the worsening problem of drug trafficking and vagrants drinking in Coffee Pot park. This issue must be addressed by current Mayor Kriseman now
