Dear Neighbor, That is actually not true.

If you have been following the issue here, in which many people have been complaining for months, visitor tags can only be given by residents to people who are visiting the household. They can not be used for any other purpose. They cannot be given or sold to anyone, and people who are actually residents cannot use visitor tags; they need to get yearly parking stickers.

Any other use is an abuse of the system. The Parking Department is aware of this, and also of the fact that some residents have sold their guest tags to people who commute. Any such use is a clear violation of the conditions for use of residential zone visitor parking tags, and this abuse carries a penalty of $200. The Parking Department has asked to be informed of cars that appear to be parking in violation of the rules. That is why a number of residents are posting.

Residential parking zones were designated to try to guarantee enough parking spaces for people who live there. People who work in zones with residential parking have to do what employees do everywhere, which is pay for the closest parking, or find a non-restricted area nearby. The construction workers have been provided parking areas, from which they walk or are shuttled in vans. Once again, any use of a "visitor" tag by a person who is not visiting a resident is illegal. If anyone is confused about this, more information is available on the city website, or by calling the Parking Department.

BM340,,, I do understand you, and your reasons,, and will repeat.. either option works.. either he needs a special status or you need to be more considerat,, to paraphrase. You may be technically correct and still actually unjust.

If the parking people do have a special status to offer then that's wonderful and I hope the owner of the vehicle gets it.

I did not realize this is an ongoing issue, and I have other things to do than get embroiled in this one.

This car is using visitor tag number 6569. Still parking here every weekday at 6, and going to work, leaving again around 3.

Very likely a resident offered the guest pass and since construction worker had paid for the sticker They think They're fine! Gotta give Them a warning...Fine the Neighbor that requested the sticker!

Now I have started to notice this truck too. It parks here every day!

Still parking here with the visitor tag to work on Yale construction. It's been months now. Every day. First with the 2015 tag, and now with the 2016 tag. Such an obvious case of abuse, and the city is unable to stop it.

City Hall in New Haven is a sick joke.
