All the slides in Oakland Parks are boarded up because they do not meet ADA requirements. Only the play structures that have been built in recent years are not boarded up. People should call and find out why the city has not ordered new slides.

I think this is unfortunate a plan is not in place to systematically address each park and made them ADA compliment. It is disappointing that time was made to put up boards vs take the right step and bring them up to code. I do hope all slides get fixed during this winter so that when spring comes kids can enjoy the play structures in the parks fully.

Oaklander - exactly! The kids climb all over them in unsafe ways, in an effort to use them/play.

I agree, these slides should be fixed soon. It's a shame that local kids aren't able to make use of a local park.

I would love to get an update as to why the playground slides are still not fixed? What can we do as local citizens? It is such a shame ...

It's now July and the slides are still boarded up. Kids are currently trying to climb over the top of the slide. This is extremely dangerous!

Any news on whether this is being addressed? It's now 7 months past May and still not solved.

Public works has ordered new slides. They do take some time to get produced, sent and then installed, but we are on our way to new ones!!! Will keep you all informed as the replacements occur!

The slide was removed and replaced a with a wooden board? I hope that's not the permanent fix. Michelle said public works was ordering new slides? This current solution is an insult to any kid who uses the park and also very unsafe.
