It has been a terrible problem in the neighborhood from some time. I unfortunately had to hire a pest control service because the rats are using my yard as a passageway - burrowing everywhere! I Can no longer use my backyard for my garden and to entertain my grandchildren.

I know if two other neighbors who have personally hired pest services. We've contacted animal control (who told us to contact the Board of Health ) and the Board of Health.

Our neighborhood is infested with rats. I've lived in this neighborhood for over 60 years. Never, never have we had a problem like this before. I began noticing them about two years ago. At this point, it's the worst it's ever been…

Where are they coming from or where are they living? There are so many rats, I couldn't even begin to tell you. But I can tell you that there are uncared for dumpsters with no signs of pest control around them. Unfortunately we do have neighbors that just throw their loose trash out in their yard and we also have commercial area that has piled debris everywhere. So the rats are being well fed and they have a place they can call home.

Our councilor , Ryan O'Malley came by a few weeks back to take pictures.

The residential area of Linden Ave - starting At 180 Linden Ave and down. The rats have been seen as far as Everett Street ( I'm told this from a resident who lives on that street ). The commercial buildings behind 180 Linden Ave and the apartment complexes behind Linden Ave, parallel to the train tracks.

I live down the other end of Linden Ave. Next to the condos.

All areas of the city have seen an increase in rodent, skunk, raccoon and squirrel activity. Please make sure to reduce or eliminate all standing water on your property, ensure all trash stored outside is in a trash barrel with a lid. Check your foundation for access points and yard area for holes. If you find any access point or holes in your yard contact a licensed pest control contractor for service.
