Descrição

Corner of Clifton St and Russell St. near fire hydrant. Water is coming up through the ground on the sidewalk and is running in the street. It's going to be an icy corner as the temperature drops. I noticed water yesterday on the small tar area on the sidewalk where there was some work done a while back. Not sure who it was doing the work.

This is a safety issue and should have been called into public safety 203 946-6316, then posted to warn others and to have a record it was called in. Should the temperature get below 32 degrees tonight there can be a serious accident. This site is not monitor 24/7 by the city. I doubt if it is monitor at all at night. I called after reading this post but it should have been phoned in once it was noticed.

The Regional Water Authority is also sending someone out to check for a possible leak.

Regional Water Authority has sent someone from Field Service to investigate, but there is no water showing at this time.

The RWA will inspect the area today. If the hydrant is leaking, we will notify the City for repairs as the City owns and maintains all hydrants in New Haven; however, the RWA will usually perform a field investigation first to confirm it is a leaking hydrant rather than an underground pipe.
