Apparently fire department use of water can cause brown water. We heard and saw trucks in Westville ten minutes before water change; it's possible they were using lots of water?
Libby, as part of the RWA staff and one RWA's ask.info mailbox monitors, I thank you for staying on top of this situation. Opening of a hydrant can, indeed, stir up sediment and cause brown water. I'm glad to hear that the situation has resolved itself. The fire department certainly is allowed to open a hydrant. However, if you see any illegal opening of hydrants occurring, please contact us right away. Again, thank you for your vigilance.
