Deskripsyon
New owners of 101 Orange Street continue to have overflowing dumpsteris. This property absolutely needs the dumpster fences and more frequent pickup. This is the entrance to our building at 770. Rats and other vermin are aggregating here as a result.

T. Is the problem blight (trash, etc) outside, or is it a problem with the building (illegal use, housing code violation, etc)?

As a follow-up to this issue:
Site Cleanliness Plans issued
Site assessment done, initial interviews with all parties done (or staff of parties), offenses photographed and documented, follow up contact made with property owner, Waste hauler contacted
Fornarellis Ristorante was the actual offending party-possible illegal dumping, health department violation, right of way issue, failure to secure waste receptacle. Although they were well within having the proper containers for their restaurant operation, it was commonly known to attract others to use their two dumpsters as common receptacles for surrounding addresses (with a general understanding that this practice was taking place, although it was never discouraged). Some of the residents at the Ninth Square property found it less cumbersome to dispose of their waste in Fornarellis containers, rather than use the one provided to them by their property manager, Ninth Square. There are also residences above the restaurant utilizing the restaurant containers. This caused constant overflow when the new ownership of the restaurant cut back on disposal from daily, to once a week pick up.
Solution: (see attached photos)
Fornarelli’s has obtained locking dumpsters from their hauler All American Waste. They also placed a narrow channel recycling dumpster to replace the open cover recycling container that was there previously, which makes it more difficult for “dumpster diving”, as well as placing uncollectable items within the recycling dumpster.
Ninth Square had All American move the dumpster (or place an additional one) to more accessible common area for their residents, thereby making it less attractive for their residents to access Fornarelli’s containers.
