Description
A business called SchoolFoodies (operating at 845 Central Avenue) has a growing fleet of commercial vehicles (both marked and unmarked) that it parks on residential side streets both over night and over weekends. These vehicles are Ford Transit cargo vans. According to Ford's website (http://www.ford.com/commercial-trucks/transit-cargo-van/2018/models/transit-van/) these vans are 81.3 inches (or 6' 9.3") in width excluding the side mirrors. This appears to violate multiple provisions of Municipal Code Section 8-7.9. Irregardless, this creates a public nuisance - not only are the vans unsightly but residents exiting their driveways cannot see vehicles and bicyclists through / around these commercial vehicles when exiting a driveway, creating a safety hazard. I want Alameda to be pro-business but it seems reasonable to require a business that operates a fleet of heavy commercial vehicles to secure off-street parking for said vehicles.

Use 'regardless' or 'irrespective' instead....

Note this business was reported last October as a problem with no action by city. Violation of AMC having deliveries at night. Violates their business permit as they have no permit to operate at night. Violates noise ordinances. I have called police to report yet still business is allowed to operate to the detriment of the public health and safety of the community. Open trash has been reported to vector control. I have called at least a couple of times at code enforcement left msg and no one calls back. The city closed this issue with no action. Time for a petition?

This is a huge problem. I have pictures of deliveries occurring at 12:30 at night, at 4:30 in the morning. It is very erratic. I have tried to be patient hoping that these issues will subside but it has only appeared to get worse. Not entirely sure how they manage to take deliveries at such disparate times of day but I would like to know who exactly I can speak to about this issue. As to the person who originally posted this complaint...Thank you, I had been meaning to do something about this for some time please feel free to reach out to me perhaps hearing from multiple people at the same time may be what is needed to get any traction on this issue.

apj: I spoke with the planning department. School foodies do not have a permit to operate at night. They said the best course of action is to call the APD non-emergency number the next time a big rig comes at night and complain as a noise disturbance and get the complaint id number from the officer. Then they are required to follow up. The owner must come up with a noise abatement plan. I plan to do this next time I am awakened at night and I would encourage you to do the same. Thanks!

This issue has been open for 120 days; as far as I know there has been no action by the city although this business is operating illegally at night (24/7) without a business permit to operate facilities at night causing a public nuisance.
