Yeah, right... people are going 80 because they don't know that the State Limit is 55... more signs will totally fix this.
Let's be realistic. As long as people are continually allowed to have their tickets reduced they're not going to slow down. Start making people actually pay their $90 fines and they'll slow down. Better yet, let's put people in jail overnight for speeding. Then we'll see results!

No, the thing is that people have no CLUE what the speed limit is on this highway, because there are only Speed Limit 55 MPH signs on the right side. They are hardly visible from the left lane.
If they could actually SEE the Speed Limit 55 MPH signs while they're going 80 in the left lane, maybe they would be reminded that this is NOT a 65 MPH road!!

Cops don't stop people doing 70MPH, as I can easily tell you from thousands of commutes without a ticket. 80MPH is not an exaggeration as I'm often passed at a high rate of speed. Anyone who tries going 55 during any rush hour is at serious risk of being rear ended.
The solution is to increase the speed limit to 65. This would eliminate the confusion and danger slower drivers present. It worked for alternate rt-7; it would work for 787.
