It is a worthy project as the road used to flood 18" deep along the section between Barney's, trapping everyone in and out, with Gandy as the only way to go. Currently it is worse than any country road I have ever driven. I suggest some regular more frequent smoothing. It is barely ok with my suv but I really feel sorry for regular passenger car drivers.

Thank you for your comments on the road condition. We will request that the contractor make every effort to better smooth the road. The project will raise the southern half of Oak Street NE to match the elevation of the road on the northern half of Oak Street NE and provide new and larger stormwater conveyance structures to tie into the new FDOT stormwater structures on Gandy. Maintenance of traffic to assure access for residents during construction is an important part of the project so, please continue to provide feedback. Traffic speeds have been significantly reduced through the construction zone for safety purposes and site conditions. The completion date for the project is November, 2018.

I completely understand the purpose and intricacies of this over due project, but do you truly believe it is reasonable for the contractor to take almost 7 MONTHS to realign/replace the drainage and repave approx 1/8 -1/4 of a mile of road? You and I have seen buildings built and I-225 widened in less time. This is ridiculous and unacceptable. Please investigate further and advise. Not trying to be a PIA- but if you lived down there you wouldn't like it either- WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO USE THIS ROAD - Did you physically see this road? drive on it? walk on it?

The contractor performing the work spends lots of time smoothing and filling in potholes in the temporary road bed. I see them working on it almost every morning. The condition deteriorates so quickly because it is a dirt road and we have had exceptional amounts of rain almost daily. They can't control the weather and this is a large and complex project (it's not just simple repaving) so it's going to take some time. Sure, it's definitely inconvenient for those of us that have to use the road but the work is necessary to relieve the flooding issues that were occurring in the area.

The above lady must be the wife of one of the contractors, as none of what she said is even mildly true- I drive in/out of Oak st NE 4-6 times a day and it has only gotten worse, never ever better and they have never made an attempt to "smooth" the road

As an update for this project, the contractor anticipates paving the road during the week of September 9. The paving is scheduled to occur at nighttime. Additional work on the project will continue as they finalize the remaining parts of the project.
