  That intersection needs signs that state YIELD TO ONCOMING CARS (going straight) AND PEDESTRIANS. Crosswalk needs to be painted with stripes so that it is well marked. There are near-miss incidents everyday at this intersection. Why are we waiting for accidents and collisions to happen before a sign can go up? Not asking for major construction...just a post, signage and some paint!

  I wrote in earlier this week about this same issue. This week and sometime last week, I had near misses in this intersection with left turning drivers who thought they had the right-of-way. I don't where these drivers learned to drive, but when two drivers approach an intersection from opposite directions at the same time, the left turning driver is supposed to relinquish the right-of-way to the driver going straight through. In last week's incident, the driver cut right in front of me and went her oblivious way. In this week's incident, the driver stopped right in front of me; forcing me to swerve to the right to avoid hitting her. I understand near-misses don't count in the City's opinion, but something really has to be done about this intersection before someone is killed. Two years ago next month, one of our neighbors was hit by a pick-up truck in the intersection, her car was totaled, she suffered several broken ribs and forced to be off work for a couple of months. Can't the City at least install a sign to require left turning drivers to yield to oncoming traffic? Cars should also yield to pedestrians crossing at that intersection.
