This goes on all the time. There is a white house on the north side just west of Winthrop used for parties all the time. Attendees are too lazy to walk and park on the mall. The old woman that owns it is bed ridden and has no clue what goes on there.
Do you have a police substation nearby or someway you can speak to a police liaison officer? This way you might get additional help. The more people in your area that you can get to voice their concerns, the more likely you are to get help with this issue.
I live on that block and I’m tired of the noise till late at night, the cars on the Mall, the mess they leave behind & the implicit scorn of the people who think this is acceptable behavior.
Yes, there is a sub-station on Whalley. In fact I reported the situation to an officer sitting in a parked car on Maple right behind the party house. Said he’d look into it. Patrol cars pass the cars on the Mall a lot and do nothing about it
Maybe you need to call the local news stations to get some reporters out to film & interview authorities about their lack of action. A picture is worth a thousand words.
Would you believe they are having another party!?! Right now! The garbage, the beer bottles, and litter from yesterday‘s party are still on the mall! Music is loud, car is on the mall again. Involving the local TV news is a terrific idea! I will look into this.
The alder is Evette Hamilton, evette.hamilton@yale.edu, and the policing District Manager is Lt. Manmeet Colon. text her at (203) 668-8907. Both are very responsive.
No, I spoke with Evette this afternoon about the loud, noisey parties, and what can be done. “Call the police.” She said. “Sometimes they don’t come.” I said. She shrugged and walked away.
Hopefully someone will run against her in the elections next year, this unacceptable. Does a tragedy have to happen before something is done.? If there is one because of the posts on this site the city is going to have a lot to answer to. Has anyone tried contacting the police district manager.
Given the nature of the concern, additional details outlined in the comments, and hours which it may be occurring I am recategorizing this as a policing issue.
Please report any related issues to the police non-emergency line at (203)946-6316 as they are occurring.
If illegal parking is occurring between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday through Friday please alert Transportation, Traffic & Parking at (203)946-8076 and we can dispatch parking enforcement personnel to issue parking citations. Thank you.
If this issue arises again, please feel free to generate a new request in the category of Parking Violation/Abandoned Auto. This category is monitored during normal business hours and a reasonable response/acknowledgement in SCF is within the next business day. If you witness this behavior occurring during normal business hours, for a faster response please call us directly at (203) 946-8076 and we will dispatch an officer as soon as possible. If this is occurring after hours or over the weekend, please report the issue to the NHPD non-emergency line at (203)946-6316. Our department does have limited enforcement personnel scheduled after hours and on Saturdays, but any Sunday violations would have to be reported to the NHPD at the above number. Thank you for your help in this matter.
