Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

  These potholes have been reported many times since 2012. The only one that was fixed was when a kid on a bike hit it and went over the handle bars. It was repaires within a few days after his parents contacted the city. The rest just keep getting deeper.

  I am swerving to avoid these b/c it's so jolting. Another concern of mine is my sons riding their bikes. Also, once the rain comes if these are not fixed we are looking at the likelihood of sink holes. I have told the City many time. Regardless of the backup, City streets within walking and biking distances to schools need to be prioritized for safety reasons. Maybe headroyce can chip in more taxes to help improve the surrounding neighborhood?

  Yes, you have had an open request since at least 2012. Oakland has NO interest in repairing roads unless someone is injured. Then they jump on it and do a half hearted job.
