Please fix this . We already lost 2 tires on a high performance vehichle due to pot holes . It took us 1 year to get the money from malden to pay for the repair and they only paid partial. This is dangerous as well.

What city department is responsible to supervise these contractors? What employees of this department are suppose to be checking on these contractors? What will the employees consequence be for jot performing their duties?

I went by there during the day yesterday, when it was OK and you could see what was happening, but I can see that it would be a real problem at night.

It’s a new temporary speed control technology they’re working on.

We went by yesterday afternoon and there was caution bump sign but bump is an understatement. More like caution huge drop ahead.

Charles construction needs to add fill ASAP, deep hole damaging cars. Lots of scraping sounds as I walked by.

Apparently proper warning signs are not required in Malden, just look at the dug up sidewalks around the new self storage building at 490 Eastern Ave. Contractors must be lining some officials pockets with the money rhey are saving on signs

Between the Ward 7 water issue which we still haven't recieved an honest answer about and now this road work debacle. Can you please answer what you and your staff actually do? For a department full of "educated engineers" a lot of stupid mistakes seem to happen.

Lets see how long Mr. Lip and his "engineers" are going to ignore this latest issue

The contractor, Charles Construction prepared the site for for base course paving today, hence the extreme drop in grade. Unfortunately, the paving has been pushed off until Tuesday September 18 due to rain delays on the contractor's end. The road will remain at this level until paving takes place then.
Today, we have instructed the contractor to place more warning signs and safety cones to alert traffic to the drop. The signs and cones are there, in place, now.
In the meantime, until paving is complete, please take extra care when approaching this site, driving slowly and cautiously over the transition. We thank you for your patience as we all work together to improve our infrastructure.

Still did not answer why this was allowed to remain like this without proper reflective signs that can be seen at night - just another fail by the City of Malden and the Engineering Department

This issue has been resolved thanks to all of the above. Proper MUTCD signage has been installed and the appropriate amount of fill to the transition in grade.

But the question still hasn't been answered, why was this signage not installed before residents damaged their cars last night

In the real world there are consequences when you do not perform your job properly, Mr Lip and his staff in the Engineers Office continue to fail to do their job. The Malden roads are awful from the mismanaged water pipe replacement project and now the the roads are finally being paved and Mr Lip and his staff of Engineers are obviously once again not overseeing the contractors, if they had these signs would have been installed prior to work beginning

There was signage up yesterday afternoon. I think the issue was it wasn’t that visual at night. I’m usually only on that street in the afternoon so don’t know how dark that street is and maybe when they put it up in day light didn’t think ahead. However, while it was a big drop, going at or below the speed limit it definitely wasnt damaging to our car. if you are in at a often that construction shouldn’t be a surprise. The other day they had that area closed off to traffic. I think it’s been clearly stated here we do have an issue with cars treating our side streets like highways so maybe this will slow you down some.

I would not count the spray painted plywood as signage. What is now installed is adequate to safely warn drivers of the risk ahead. The point is once again it took citizen outrage to get City Engineers to do their job and oversee the contractors.
