I managed to clear the path and bridge of the obstruction but I urge the City of New Haven to dispatch the appropriate team TOMORROW MORNING to not only remove the fallen limbs but to remove this now known hazardous tree before someone is killed. A licensed arborist accompanied me to the area today and was stunned that the City failed to take care of this hazardous tree, once so advised (Thursday evening), but another one I reported more than a year ago, visible from Parks and Rec (not seated behind a desk but I would venture to say from the front door). Edgewood Park is about the only “service “ of value the City provides to my family.
The issue has been resolved. If you need to report a new issue please do so in See Click Fix or call the Department of Parks, Recreation and Trees at (203) 946 - 8004. Thank you.
Correction- this issue is NOT resolved unless the City took down the rest of the hazardous tree and removed the pieces of cut up trunk flanking the wooden foot bridge. Plus what about the downed tree near the Edgewood Avenue overpass? How sad if our standards are so low that we can’t finish the job the right way. Shameful and embarrassing when bringing visitors to our city yet somehow we find the resources to sweep the streets in advance of the big Yale games. Very disappointing indeed.
The gravest concern is the reckless attitude toward leaving the rest of a dead tree to fall! Really!!
Walk through not necessary. Dead hazardous tree still standing for now and the pieces of the trunks I cut up are still here. Is there confusion as to the location? There is a black metal railed wooden bridge over West River (we all know where that is) and on the western side are two low wooden foot bridges. That’s it so this all we can expect until the rest of tree falls without warning ⚠️ or we can be proactive by removing it now before it hurts someone. What am I missing?
As someone who enjoys the park daily I can assure you not only is this issue still open but one of the footbridges in the same area was displaced by flash floods a couple of weeks ago. It stuns me that with a City office across the street it’s acceptable to leave the park in this condition. There are othe felled trees in the park which need to be cut up and removed. Are we expecting all is the maintenance to be completed by volunteers?
