  I have written to the Office of the Mayor and CM Guilen’s office . The fact that the City and OPD came to close this camp, met with resistance , and left is inexcusable.

  It sends a message the City can’t execute closing a camp. If there is resistance the Police walk away ?! I am furious at this inept and wasteful disaster.
  We deserve to have a camp closure done professionally and to anticipate these types of issues . When people break the law you arrest them , you don’t walk away and leave residents in the area to deal with the aftermath.

  Today there was a woman who moved onto the pedestrian bridge and was yelling at people walking on the bridge. The police should have dealt withthe resisters and closed the camp . That was the agreement .

  If the city acted quickly to remove the first one or two tents, this scenario would not be repeated over & over again. Instead, city leaders wait until these camps grow “beyond our control “. A notable exception were the tents set up on the mayors lawn, which brought immediate police presence & swift removal

  This is OUTRAGEOUS. Remove this camp now like the city promised in the October meeting. This camp has caused the city over 500K in damage to the wetlands. The State water quality Board is going to begin charging $10K per day if this disaster is not mitigated. Time is ticking. Us residents who pay taxes want to be able to use our public parks. We are fine with sanctioned camps like the community cabins, but it is time for this camp to go. Don't back down from your promises or we will vote you out of office.
