Well I called the PD as it was happening and they eventually showed up and basically told me it happens all the time.. no report taken nothing...I was surprised that they showed up..
Did you get a license photo of the license plate?
Too bad the pictures do not actually show the dumping, it only shows the front.
One thing you can do is see if the trash has any names or addresses on it, then the police to visit the address.i have seen that happen, but you have to act quick. Sometimes in addition to a fine, they will be forced to come back and pick up the trash that they dumped.
William I am not sure who at VPD you provided the information to but we have an Officer dedicated to illegal dumping and he would love the information. You can email him at david.gomez@cityofvallejo.net or come down to 2 Florida Street Monday thru Thursday 8:30-4:30 to provide him the information. He will do everything in his power to locate this offender and seek prosecution.
Today we went to 2Florida street . The person we wanted to see had the day off and the volunteer at the front desk said there was no one to take our report.
Why does everything have to be so difficult in this city. The emergency number for code enforcement just gives you different option with pre recorded messages that just plays on a loop....
Thank you for your comment. The Code Enforcement Officer has been notified of this issue and will start an investigation. To assist the officer, please email IllegalDumping@cityofvallejo.net with any photos, video, suspect(s) description(s), vehicle make/model/license plate #, date/time/location of occurrence, and/or any other pertinent information (you may also call the Illegal Dumping Hotline with this information at 707-648-0445). I am contacting the City Manager's Office to find out the stats on our iDeal Vallejo illegal dumping program. Would like to know if we are having any successes or a reduction in dumping. Officer Gomez was not able to give me any information on this and referred me to City Hall. In a comment by Keith from the Grounds Crew he said they seen a 30% increase in illegal dumping reports and have only 4 of the 8 needed employees. They were also tasked with cleaning the huge homeless encampment on Mare Island and that took them away from their regular duties.
I would like to see the numbers in the City managers bi-monthly report and have some accountability. Just like the stats are posted for SCF.
This problem is still not resolved. The trash is hidden behind bushes.. they broke the chain to get in there. If you would walk a ways you would see the trash.. I drove past it today at 4 pm.
Thank you
Made it into the City Manager's office and they had me talk to the City Attorney The number of illegal dumping cases refereed to him is only 7. That's about one a month since iDEAL Vallejo's inception. He stated that the goal was for 20 or more prosecutions this year. Of the 7 cases sent, apparently only one or two have gone through the courts and maybe one fine of $250 has been collected, as most fail to appear and get a bench warrant etc. The addition of a couple of cameras are "in the works" - no timeline or location given for when. With any luck over time the success rate should increase. Stay vigilant, keep reporting and suggesting new deterrents to our officials and City Hall until the get the message we are serious about eliminating this blight.
Thanks for reporting! Our staff responsible for removing, sorting, and dumping all illegal dumping in Vallejo has picked up the illegal dumping reported at this location. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this issue, please call the Maintenance Division at 707-648-5235. Thanks again for using SeeClickFix!

Interesting that the COV website says to call 911 if you see illegal dumping.
