These areas are complained about often and never fixed

This street is riddled with drainage problems! All of the complaints have gone on for far too long! Something needs to be done to address the poor drainage! I too have reported SEVERAL times the standing water in front of 720 204th!
I hope the county gets it done right this time!!

The entire road needs to be repaved. It hasn’t been paved in over 20 years now. Yet they repave other streets that were in better shape.

It is important that residents comply with the Code to minimize potential hazardous conditions for pedestrians and motorists. Our roadways, sewer systems, and storm drain systems are not designed to carry additional flows.

§13-2-206. Discharging water into roads
A person may not empty, discharge, or cause or allow to be emptied or discharged from premises occupied by the person directly or indirectly, to or on any county road a liquid other than rainwater flowing in its natural course.


Suggested Discharge Locations and Techniques

Relocate downspout or sump pump discharges:
Relocate discharges so that it discharges a minimum of ten feet from the property line adjacent to a street or sidewalk.
French drains or discharge wells:
Water may be dissipated by using underground perforated drains or rock filled wells that distribute and allow water to percolate into the surrounding soil.
Rain Gardens:
Downspout or sump pump discharges may be directed to small depressed garden areas to facilitate infiltration.
Rain Barrels:
Connect a rain barrel to a downspout or sump pump for future watering of lawns and gardens.

The water collecting on the road is the issue. If there are residents discharging water on the road in violation of county code, Enforce IT! The collection of this water is due to the condition of the road itself. This occurs after every rain. The condition of the paving and recent patch is the issue. This recent patch has made the standing water worse.

ROW will investigate to see if any are in violation.

Agreed! I gave been told several times that the water flowing from these homes is NOT a violation, hence the responsibility falls to the county to fix the road drainage issues.
Either way, it is not the responsibility of the residents to enforce code, we are to report the issues we see, which we have done SEVERAL times. Please FIX THE ISSUES!

204th Street in Green Haven is not currently programmed for resurfacing. However, it is one of a number of roads in Green Haven that we are currently investigating for preventative maintenance treatment tentatively in 2-3 years.

I was told today that this road is rated at a 61 and that only roads rated at a 50 or below were considered for resurfacing or repaving. I called over 10 years ago and this road was rated in the 60’s. How is that possible? The rating system is BS! They’ve repaved other roads in Green Haven that were no where near as bad as this one. I’ve been here 20 years and nothing has been done with the exception of patching. Look at the photos of the most recent patch. It’s absolutely horrible.

We will be conducting an investigation of roadway and drainage conditions in Green Haven in the next few weeks.

Time to contact the government executive. Somebody clearly NOT doing their job!!

It’s several weeks later. Still no progress and the issue has gotten worse.

I have the same issue on my street, same unsightly patch jobs and large pools of rainwater collect right on top of them. So patching obviously is not working, the roads need to be repaved.

Now several months later. Still no progress or resolve.

Issue still not resolved. Water just collects and stands. AACo!!!!!!!! Hello!!!!! Does anyone out there know how to fix a simple spot in the road???

Nothing has changed.

Not even a response from the county about this same issue.

204th Street in Green Haven is tentatively scheduled for Preventative Maintenance Cape Seal Microsurfacing in FY 2021, and under consideration to be expedited in FY 20. Patching will be scheduled in conjunction with preventative maintenance resurfacing as no urgent patching needs were identified during inspection.
