"Pending" really doesn't tell me anything. It has been "pending" for a year since the contractor who paved the street did not repaint it. Can you give us an estimate?

Called Public Works (no such dept as traffic management listed on city website) and was referred to Mr. Drew Phillips, supvr. in charge of pavement marking (646-1223). Mr. Phillips says he is understaffed and the Redskins Camp is priority right now. Will be at least six weeks before he can look at it again.

6 months later and no action. markings crews have been in neighborhood numerous times painting sharrows and a new traffic circle. This has obviously gone from being a low priority to off anyone's list completely. Please follow up and get taken care of.

8/8/2014 - Richmond Pavement Marking Mgmt (20020950935) noted this location will be marked and touched back up for pavement marking for the area around Longview, Shawnee and Hathaway; however the section for crossing at mid-block vicinity of Shawnee & Hawthaway will not be re-installed because there is a ditchline/culvert on each side of the street and this middle street section is dangerous for pedestrian crossing. Richmond Pavement Marking Mgmt advises going down to a corner intersection for crossing the street for increased safety.

You've got to be kidding, right? This is a completely unacceptable dereliction of responsibility. The City spent YEARS deciding where to end the sidewalks on either side of Longview. It was a safe place to cross until the contractors who dug the culverts failed to consider the crossing, and the City failed to oversee them. Then the pavers failed to repaint, and the city failed to oversee THEM. The crossing is there because the sidewalk ends at the crossing, not at the intersection. There is NO sidewalk on the other side of Longview at the "corner intersection" where they suggest pedestrians cross. Increased safety? Walking in the road on a curve next to a ditch? How safe is that? Either repaint the crosswalk or continue the sidewalk on the east side of the street. (And where exactly is this "corner intersection"? There is no corner, so they clearly have not examined the situation.) Laziness does not excuse making irresponsible and unsafe suggestions without having even thought about the implications. Please pass this up the chain.
