I was informed today that there is a new system where you have to listen to all the options before you are able to talk to a dispatcher, it takes about a minute and a half. If you press 0 it goes to the beginning of the message. This is unacceptable and I will be calling the city tomorrow to voice my displeasure. If they want the public to report when there is a problem this must be changed.

XYZ is right. If anyone employed with the NHPD says they can't modify the automated phone tree to allow callers to make a selection before listening to all of the options, that just means they don't know how to make the modification. All automated phone trees on contemporary software can be modified to allow this. The NHPD should contact the vendor of their "New System" and tell them to help. If this really, really can't be done, that means they chose the wrong vendor.

I agree that this is also unacceptable. I hope that the powers that be fix this major snafu asap.

This was done intentionally the reason told to me was that people were pushing 0 for issues that had nothing to do with a dispatcher. I guess they feel that if you listen to all the opinions you will choose the correct one.. I talked to someone in management and expressed my feelings on this and was told he would look into it.
