Description

A homeless encampment, which is supplemented by people who live out of vehicles has moved in on the south side of MacArthur Blvd at the I-580 pedestrian bridge just east of High Street. Vehicles sit parked for days or weeks at a time. Few have license plates. Vehicle crime is on the rise as well. I witnessed four adults smashing windows and the windshield of a small truck. They then proceeded to ransack the vehicle, which had not moved in weeks. I believe this was a robbery of a drug drop.

The cause of the problem is that lane restrictions and cleaning schedule has not resumed after improvements related to the Mills Corridor City Street Improvement Project was completed in this section. Please resume parking rules and street cleaning!!! The vagrants and the trash are out of control. This sis a major safety issue can can be greatly aided by parking enforcement. Also- Caltrans has been advised of homeless encampment.
