Fair point Gerald, and that tact is usually the case on other streets, there is sort of an unspoken decision between the two uncoming parties as to who will go and who will wait, however when there are cars parked on both sides of the road, there is nowhere for the waiting car to pull off to, and the oncoming driver just breezes thru without even slowing down. All you can do is sit there and hope they dont nail the corner or side of your car as they fly by flippantly.

Yep. Scary. I've seen that stuff too, but not that often and I'll avoid streets where the bad people roam. And too, some people are a lot less risk averse than me, willing to take chances.
I make sure my car is quite well stopped: getting hit at speed is going to do a lot of damage!

well here is another street that should have only one side parking. kingston streets are not wide enough for both side parking. when are they going to do something about this.

What's quite baffling about it is that most, if not all, of the homes on Emerson St. have driveways, and long ones at that. I understand that it would always be an unavoidable issue right around the Deli, but the rest of the street doesn't have a reason to park on the road when they have long driveways to park in.

I whole-heartedly agree with every single post! Slow down, be curteous! This road SHOULD have parking only on one side. And by the way, don't most of these homes have driveways?!

You don't have a choice but to drive down the middle of this road. I drive down this road almost daily. With cars parked on both sides of the road, plus the snow there is no room for 2 cars to pass safely. This definitely needs to be changed, possibly by not allowing parking on one or both sides?

In some instances you are right, Shannon, but I was referring to situations where both cars COULD go through, but one is just flat out in the middle of the road without even trying to use their half of the road. Also is the drivers who do this and zoom right down without slowing down just a tad and miss your car by an inch, it seems as if they just don't care if they hit you...

Funny you say they don't care if they hit you. I was actually just hit on this road 2 days ago. Not too bad of a hit, but enough to do some damage. Why is there still parking allowed on both sides of the street?! I BARELY squeezed through 2 parked cars on opposite sides in my TINY little vehicle.. I couldn't imagine an SUV being able to fit through there.

time for alternate-side-of-the-street parking, and pothole repair.
