Description
The stop light at East Street and Grand Avenue is red in all directions whenever there is a train crossing Grand Avenue. There is no apparent reason for vehicles traveling on East Street to stop, as the train runs parallel to East Street, not across it. This leads to unnecessary and substantial backup on East Street for sometimes as much as 10-15 minutes, causing many motorists to do u-turns to leave the intersection and creating a dangerous situation. Can the light be timed with the train so that East Street traffic can proceed through the intersection while traffic on Grand Avenue remains stopped?
