I live at 564 forest at this intersection and I will confirm the original comments. Many children and families pass through here ea h day. It is also a primary route of BART riders heading back to their homes on foot. Anecdotally, both Uber and Lygts traffic directions lead drivers through the intersection as the making their way between Telegraph and Claremont. The fact that there is neither a stop sign nor across walk at a three way intersection is a complete oversight of basic safety for both pedestrians and drivers

I've had many close calls here as a pedestrian. Drivers who aren't familiar with the area don't know to stop and they just fly through.

I live on Ayala and have had a few too many close encounters with drivers who turn right off of Forest without looking and sometimes barely slowly. We need this stop sign!!

I live on Ayala and have had several near misses with drivers who don't stop before turning right off Forest onto Ayala. Please provide a stop sign there.

I live on Forest and the speed at which cars travel down my street before turning on Ayala is a danger to all-children, dogs and adults. Cars also travel way too fast from Ayala onto Forest. I would prefer a three way stop.

I also live on Forest St and the current "Oakland Slow Streets" program has underscored the need for some traffic control at the Forest / Ayala intersection. Because of the barriers excluding thru traffic, the two streets are SO much calmer -- in contrast to how, previously, people would fly around the corners. It is my opinion that a three-way stop is warranted.

I used to live on the corner of Ayala and Forest and had a front row seat to regular vehicular altercations involving at minimum obnoxious honking, and at times near miss accidents involving other vehicles or even pedestrians. At the very least there should be a yield sign for Forest Street drivers. Marked crosswalks would also be a helpful second indicator to SLOW down.

I live 200 feet from this intersection and as a parent, the pedestrian danger is obviously the most concerning aspect of the intersection. But I can’t believe there aren’t more car collisions since you literally have to make eye contact with the other driver to sort out right of way if you enter the intersection at the same time. That’d be one thing if it wasn’t a heavily trafficked intersection, but being so close to Claremont it definitely is.

Please put a stop sign and cross walk on Forest and Ayala. A dangerous intersection and several almost dangerous misses.

I live on Forest Street and feel the current lack of a stop sign is a major safety concern. There needs to be a clearly indicated right of way for one direction of traffic, as well as to preserve the safety of those who walk on these streets daily. Additionally, many vehicles race along Forest street to make the light at Forest and Claremont. A speed bump would be a welcome addition to calm the pace of traffic.

The T intersection at Forest and Ayala needs a Stop sign desperately. It's insane to have absolutely no signage whatsoever at a T. It's scary for both pedestrians and drivers.

I live on Ayala and we do not want a stop sign in front of our house. We do not want idling cars stopped in front of our house. We do not want a stop sign to interfere with our driveway.

17+ yrs here and never a problem. Disagree with stop signs on Ayala side as it will increase noise, decrease parking & interfere with driveways.

I work from home with windows open and have audible awareness of this intersection 24/7. I have lived at this intersection for over 29 years. I formerly drove daily for commuting, so I understand both a driver’s perspective and a pedestrian’s perspective of this blind-corner.

This is what I hear and see at this intersection DAILY:
- I see cars speed from Ayala Ave., down Forest St. towards Claremont Ave.
- I see cars speed down Ayala Ave., speeding past Forest St.
- I see cars speed from Claremont Ave., down Forest St. towards Ayala Ave.

I was very glad to hear that the neighbors were finally posting this request online.

Disagreeing with the need for these signs is, quite simply, is not paying consideration to the traffic throughout the day. These stop signs would be very helpful for public safety.

Cars will pollute more if they are speeding.

I think speed bumps on Forest St. and Ayala Ave. would also be beneficial to public safety given the ever-rising fatality count at the 5-way intersection of Claremont Ave. and Forest St.

We live on Ayala and fully support at least a stop sign at this intersection. We support other traffic calming and pedestrian safety measures as well. This is an incredibly confusing intersection for motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists and is frequently used by all three.
