I love on this street and it's a race track. My mother in law was almost hit the other day. There was an accident a few weeks back because someone couldn't get out of the driveway. They should rename the street RaceTrack drive.

I totally agree with both my neighbors. Cars and trucks speed down this street constantly. With the street being curved it makes for an even more dangerous situation. I’ve reported 2 vehicles loosing control and ending up on my lawn in the past 5 years. We have children living on this street and it’s heavily traveled with cyclists and walkers. It’s just a matter of time before we have a tragic accident. We need help!!

YES! And also on Wintergreen Ave please. It is treacherous to get your mail out of your mailbox!

I agree with my neighbors. I also live on Brook St. and feel that the lack of speed limit enforcement (or sign to alert speeders of their current speed) is a recipe for disaster. We have children walking to school, families that use Pine Rock Park, and kids biking up and down the street. Now that Hamden has been made aware of the issue, I hope they follow up in a timely manner. It shouldn’t take more accidents on Brook St. to prove the case here.

Vehicles - cars and large trucks and busses speed down Pine Rock Avenue constantly, the posted speed limit is 25 MPH. This residential street is curved near Blacy Street where it makes for an even more dangerous situation. I’ve reported several vehicles losing control and crashing into my neighbor’s property lawn in the past 5 years . Every time it snows , cars spin out .
We have children living on this street and several school bus stops and it is also heavily traveled by cyclists and walkers.
I hope it doesn’t take an accident that will result in tragic injury or death for the Town /Police to take action.

north of Brook Street" supports my comments regarding this issue and the problem has gotten worse since this study was completed. There have been serious accidents on this exact corner, Pine Rock & Blacty Street . Scheck the Police reports.

The Traffic Dept will request the electronic speed display signs from the PD Traffic Division.

That’s a great start to combat this concerning situation. Studies have shown that the signs do generally slow drivers down up to 80% of the time. I would like to suggest that the traffic division of the PD consider placing more than one sign along Brook St. One or two in each direction I feel would make an immediate impact on speeding along the street.

I will love to see that as well as some night time presence to deter Car thiefs hanging out in the Park late night waiting for everyone to go to sleep to steal cars. But that's another Petition for lights in the park.
