Description

There are so many requests for this problem. The city of Oakland does not care about children! The people living in Little Frog Park are preventing families from bringing their children here. Get your priorities straight protect the spaces designated for our children. Deep clean this structure and allow families back in. This is likely a Welfare and Institutions violation or public health violation. Show the community you care and let our kids play in a safe, poop-free, environment. Would you bring your kids here?

I have spoken with the city about this several times. Due to covid, they were not allowed to displace homeless people. Dan Kalb asked that children’s play areas be excerpt from this rule and starting Jan 1, the people living here will be evicted. I wish it was sooner, but this is the best they can do. Dan assured me the structure would be thoroughly cleaned after they leave.

Maybe we'll get quicker attention if residents refuse to pay property taxes until they address these recurring issues in our neighborhood! I just can't understand how this is allowed.

This issue is still open. Why is the city of Oakland allowing an unaccompanied middle age man to creep around little children. We all have the vaccine now. There is no more excuse. Fix this problem now.

Thank you for reopening this. Dan Kalb and his team said this would be resolved ASAP in 2021. We are now 4 months into the year and it is still an open problem. We might as well just chalk this playground up to the homeless - they own it now and have effectively stolen it from our children. I wouldn't feel safe bringing my young kids here any time soon... the people living here are aggressive and who knows what kind of dirt and rubbish they have left behind. Not cool Oakland!

It's clear that Dan Kalb thinks that the rights of dozens of families to enjoy a toddler park is more important than the rights of one man to refuse to move literally 10 feet. Dan Kalb doesn't care about childhood development.

As the city is refusing to address this, perhaps a large group of concerned citizens could meet there and clean it ourselves. That’s the only way it will be resolved.

I've been trying to get Dan Kalb and his office involved in this issue along with the tent slum in main Frog Park and permanent RV that now lives on Hudson Street under the freeway. I keep getting told that his office is dedicated to resolving this issue, but there is never any action. The lack of support that citizens get from the City of Oakland and our elected leaders is infuriating. I will definitely check out the "group chat" for this and am definitely interested in resolving these issues ourselves as a community organization. It's obvious the city won't, so maybe it's time for "us" to take back our parks!

Chuck, I agree. Dan and his staff are ignoring this - plain and simple. It's time for the citizens to take action because that is the only way we will get our parks back.
