Thank you for reporting your concern to City of Cambridge via Commonwealth Connect. We have reviewed the information you provided our staff and will be investigating this issue further. This has been received as Service Request #4455.
Hi TurtleFrog,
27 Norris St is planned to be planted after the stump is removed and the sidewalk/tree well is repaired. The stump was included on the latest list given to our stump grinding contractor.
In order to comply with City ADA standards, new trees must have at least 4ft of sidewalk clearance adjacent to the tree well. The current well at 27 Norris does not have the 4ft clearance so the well must be reconstructed before we can replant it. I will submit an internal ticket to have the site repaired after the stump is removed.
Hi Abby, My address is actually 54-56 Norris Street, not 27 Norris Street. For some reason, the map won't allow for 54-56. Is there a request for 54-56 Norssi Street and if not, can you please add it and provide a timeline?
I'm sorry about that, the request is mistakenly listed at 27 Norris. Our records show that there is also a stump at 54 Norris St. The stump has been dispatched to our stump grinding contractor but I have not yet surveyed the site for replanting. I will come by this week to measure the sidewalk to see if it is wide enough to replant and if we have to reconstruct the well or not.
If you'd like to reach out to me via email at abentley@cambridgema.gov we can discuss replanting options.
