Cars will often proceed at reckless speeds down Sterling Ave, I believe as a throughway from Sterling to High or vice versa. Our street is narrow, our sidewalks are narrow, and our front yards are shallow, making the increased speeds that much more dangerous for families with small kids as the distance from the front yard or side yard to the street is very small. We would be forever grateful is the city of Alameda would consider installing speed bumps or humps to our street which T's off into 2 much busier streets in order to slow the flow of traffic. Streets are for everyone, so we're not trying to restrict the use of Sterling as a passthrough... we just want folks to drive through at the speed limit. Thank you for reporting your concerns about street safety in Alameda. Your report will help inform the City of Alameda’s work to achieve our Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and severe injuries. We will use street safety reports, including yours, in combination with crash data and equity indicators to prioritize and design street safety investments. This evaluation will generally happen on an annual basis, with some exceptions for clear and pressing trends. Issues that the City deems to be immediate safety concerns will be elevated for quick action.
