  • 283-291 Van Horne St Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - Bergen-Lafayette
As a result of the utility work done earlier this year, the new paving on van Horne street between. Lafayette and Johnston is defective/incomplete/insufficient. The paving is bumpy and uneven, curbs were removed and never replaced, only paved over and painted, the newly installed ADA accessible curb Cuts were cut out, paved with asphalt and and not replaced to their original condition. The road does not drain properly as a result of poor paving done. This road needs to be scraped, properly regraded a screw paved, including new curbs and accessible ada curb cuts. It’s infuriating as a tax payer to see our tax dollars bro cheated in work, that is completed only to be destroyed by the next guy without any coordination. Not to mention the shoddy work. It especially problematic because there is also a school on this block (ps 22) that is affected by this poor work. The contractor needs to come back and correct his work at his cost.

  • Summit Ave At Newark Ave Jersey City, NJ 07306, USA - Journal Square

PLEASE SEE REQUEST # 4159710 made on 02/23/2018. That post goes into greater detail regarding the problem. The puddles are still there. When they re-paved the street they focused on the center of the road but didn't pave up to the edge. The puddles never went away because the unevenness that needs to be corrected is at the very edge of the road, where it meets the sidewalk, that is the area that needs to be filled in.

    Description
From 625 Summit ave to the crosswalk in front of the library. Both sides of Summit Ave, from intersection to mid-block. There are loooooong puddles where the sidewalk meets the street. When it rains, pedestrians get splashed by cars. The photo shows a splash zone on the sidewalk caused by vehicles. This is a small sample of what usually happens. When there is heavier rain, the entire sidewalk gets splashed! And on the other side, of the street, the puddles splash all over the people waiting at the bus stop.

The entire block looks like a cheese grater. Needs a full resurface. Impossible to scooter on for kids or adults. Also would be good to add a scooter lane as there are many kid schools nearby.
