  • Bowers St & Summit Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
I have been almost hit by two different vehicles (and then verbally assaulted by the drivers) while walking along summit and crossing bowers with a walk signal (east side of the intersection). The drivers clearly believe they have the right of way at this intersection despite the walk signal. Can you install a Yield to Pedestrians sign or make the pedestrian right of way more obvious?
  • Jefferson Ave & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - The Heights
Corner of Palisade Ave and Jefferson Ave is busy. Drivers don’t stop for pedestrians at cross-walk. Can we get a blinking pedestrian crossing sign?
  • North St & Sherman Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
With the new stop signs on Congress St, North St by Washington Park has become the main thoroughfare for traffic and no one stops for pedestrians. This can be especially unsafe crossing into the park which many people do. Requesting stop signs along North st intersections to alleviate this concern and ideally shuffle traffic back to Congress st.
  • St Pauls Ave Jersey City NJ 07306, United States - Journal Square
Can the city consider making these pedestrian "refuges" physical (concrete, not paint)? It's not much "refuge" when drivers continually drive over and stop on them
  • 9th St & Manila Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
We are a school and are a heavy traffic area due to Newport mall, another school, and the Holland tunnel. Cars are constantly flying down the street almost hitting students. We currently do not have any bike lane, school zone signal, or slow down sign. We are concerned for our student's and community safety and would like help in solving this issue.
  • Broadway & Tonnele Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - Journal Square
Can the city remove the turning lane here and widen the sidewalks and add parking? It is impossible to safely use a sidewalk on this street because it is so narrow and lots of cars are parked on the sidewalk. everyone is always complaining about parking. get rid of the turning lane. It’s dangerous for pedestrians anyway. I noticed this frequently on Journal Square that the sidewalks are super narrow and there’s a turning lane. It seems like we are prioritizing cars over the safety of pedestrians in this entire ward. Sidewalks aren't wide enough for two people to pass each other without one walking into the street.
  • Congress St & Sherman Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
Crash at this intersection this morning We need a stop sign and curb bump outs at this intersection It is difficult and dangerous to cross Congress St as both a pedestrian and driver The crosswalks are frequently blocked, esp in the morning during school drop off (I get the need for a quick drop off in the morning but it comes at the expense of many others safety This mornings crash looked like it involved kids going to school)
  • Town Square Pl & Washington Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07310, USA - The Waterfront
This intersection is especially dangerous in both directions for multiple reasons. We've come dangerously close to hitting pedestrians and being sideswiped by other drivers on numerous occasions. The pedestrian crossing from the mall to the PATH is on a diagonal, meaning that pedestrians cross along a very long area but with little respite in the median due to the large exhaust tower and tall grasses in the way; they're often walking along the curb or running out quickly in front of drivers since they have nowhere else to go. What's more is that there are cars stopping suddenly on both sides of the street to pickup/drop off passengers. Finally, the exhaust tower and grasses are super dangerous for driver sight lines when driving south, and for pedestrians attempting to cross from the median toward the mall. I go through this intersection very slowly and still have to frequently slam on my brakes or veer quickly into the other lane.

6th St & Marin Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
Left Turn signals at 6th and Marin are needed. A busy intersection, coupled with multiple lanes turning, a little league field with pedestrians always crossing, and an impossible turn. This is needed and a no brainer.
  • 624 Pavonia Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - Journal Square
This crosswalk was installed to replace the pitiful temporary crosswalk about 40 feet east, which has been removed.
    See Issue ID: 11865134
There is absolutely no signage to warn approaching drivers.
At Pavonia & Homestead there is a Rectangular Rapid-Flashing Beacon (RRFB) installation that pedestrians can actuate when they want to cross Pavonia Ave.
There are two signals, one at each end of the crosswalk, which have yellow LED lights to warn oncoming vehicles. A button is mounted on each pole below the beacons and signs.
Both sides normally flash when either button is pressed.
RRFBs and signage should be installed at this new crosswalk.

PSE&G installed a new wood pole to reroute high voltage wires away from the construction site at 616 Pavonia.
The pole blocks the view of the RRFB on the south side of the crosswalk from eastbound drivers.
The RRFB should be moved east, to the other side of the crosswalk, where it will be more visible to oncoming eastbound drivers.
