Description
Good morning and happy holidays! I am writing to share my frustration that all blue recycling totes, at least on Lewis Street, were simply emptied into the same refuse truck as black trash totes While I am sure this is a difficult week to staff and keep up with a huge surge in waste, it is just so disappointing to see all recycling go in the trash I am the first to acknowledge the limits of recycling and the reality that it's a very poor solution to our waste and climate challenges, but if we are indeed going to have a recycling program and put pressure on residents to participate, then the least our city can do is to actually maintain separate waste streams Otherwise, what is the point? And a week in which there is a huge surge in recyclables - including cardboard, one of the most recyclable items, as I understand it - seems like the exact time we should make sure it gets properly dealt with Additionally, as evidenced by this post, residents will continue to lose faith in the system if we witness such egregious practices like this Thank you for your understanding and willingness to hear this feedback - we're all trying to keep our community clean, reduce costs, and reduce climate impacts d aa
