That's a tough intersection, because traffic gets backed up all the way over the san leandro channel to the intersection of doolittle and island drive. For rush hour when it gets backed up you'd need to synchronize all the lights from the corner of doolittle and island drive all the way back to Park and Otis. Then all the traffic will be pushed down onto Bayfarm on the non-residential streets of doolittle and island drive. Those roads are longer and have much more capacity to hold the traffic while they shouldn't cause much inconvenience. Park and Otis are city streets, Doolittle and Island drive are a mix of city vs. state, so this requires both you guys to work together.

This intersection belongs to Caltrans. We have put in a report to Caltrans asking for timing adjustments for this intersection. We are still waiting Caltrans approval. Sincerely, Gail Carlson, Public Works.
