Broken into can mean someone entered unlocked car as happens often in East Rock without permission vs. a smashed window to enter vehicle.
Factual based on historical reports not snarky. I was being literal.
"My wallet was empty, why would anyone break into my car?" Ask our District Supervisor in the Police department

Yes police report filed.
Yes I locked my car. And I am aware it was a mistake to leave the keys to the other vehicle in my car. And honestly I am. It even sure they were left there, I could have dropped them on the street.
I posted to bring awareness so you don't end up unfortunate like me and just in case someone witnessed something suspicious.
This is actually my 3rd car stolen off mechanic st .. the first 2 were hot wired and stripped for parts.

Hello B,
Thank you for sharing this information. It has been a lot more helpful to me than a robocall reminding me to lock my car doors. I noticed your cars were broken into/ stolen on garbage day in your area. I had two minor break-ins in my LOCKED car, in which they just stole a roll of quarters from my glove box, and a previous time they just rummaged for valuables and found nothing, both times no damage to the car. I regularly use a Club to make stealing the vehicle a little more complicated.
Anyway, the point of my reply is that I noticed your break-ins happened on garbage day/ night before. My two break-ins were on garbage days as well. Do you remember the days your other cars were stolen? Also would be interested if other residents have noticed a similar pattern where they live?
It would make sense, someone wondering around late night would not raise the usual suspicion, they can carry a bag with cans to hide valuables, and people would not be as suspicious hearing minor movement outside. If we could discover a pattern, perhaps we can have police create a plan of increased patrols on those nights, rather than give robocalls telling us the obvious.
